MANY VOTERS CAME , just like Jane Campbell hoped they would, to the Wellborn Neighborhood Watch CANDIDATES NIGHT,meeting in the Blake Lowe Building next to Wellborn Community Park on July 29. 2010.
It was very good.
The fun part was when Commissioner U. agreed with Mr. Beasely who observed that the airconditioning seemed inadequate.
"Do you want central air in this county owned building?" he asked.
"Yes!"
"Consider it done", said Mr Udell.
Wellborn will wait expectantly. :-)
Russell Smith M.C.'d. Jane and Bruce Campbell made it happen with invitations to all local candidates. They did advertising and solicited refreshments. Wellborn is grateful for a job well done!

Wellborn Neighborhood Watch will sponsor a “Candidates Night” at the Blake Lowe Building next to the Wellborn Park.
Come out and listen and ask the questions you want answers to and
don’t have your family, neighbors, or best friends tell you who you should vote for.
Make your own decisions and voice your own opinion when you vote.
If you don’t like the people in office now, vote them out,
“BUT”, make sure you have your information and facts correct.
Don’t let someone you did not like back in office because you didn’t vote.
These candidates are taking their time to speak to each of us.
Please come out and spend a evening with us and get to know the candidates.
All of the candidates from the Suwannee County area will be here.
Sandwiches, cake, coffee and sweet tea to enjoy with us.
For more information contact:

Beanie receives her WCA Member of the Year plaque from Wendell with Board Members Charles Osgood, Chris Williams and Mayso Martin in the background.
The WCA held its Sponsor and Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on July 15 at the Country Club of Lake City. This dinner is a well-deserved reward for all of our loyal Blueberry Festival sponsors and volunteers. The Country Club was a beautiful place to have the function. They went over and above what was expected and we would recommend them to anyone. Our annual Member of the Year award was presented to Beanie Brooks and it was well-deserved.
WCA website will have more sponsor and volunteer pictures.

The final two decades of Gerald Joseph McKeon's days on earth were lived here in Wellborn. Born in Massachussetts in 1929, he served his country as a Marine in the Korean war. He was honorably discharged in 1951. With military precision a flag was displayed and then presented to his children at a memorial service for him at the Wellborn Masonic Lodge on Friday July 9, 2010. He was active in the local VFW American Legion and faithfully placed activity notices in the Wellborn Whisper through the years. He was a forty year Mason holding membership in the brotherhood in Connecticut before he joined Wellborn Lodge #13 in 2003. He had retired from Pratt Whitney after 37 years.
Son David spoke for the family thanking local people who befriended their dad and made his relocation and retirement a good chapter of his life, who also helped with driving during his battle with cancer. Several friends mentioned his little dog "Jack" and also what a good neighbor he was. Many folks will treasure things he made in his garage wood working shop. Some kids have "like new" bikes thanks to Gerald McKeon.
May God comfort the family and friends of Gerald Joseph McKeon who will miss him, who remember him and are grateful to have known him as a good and honorable man, a true friend.

Jane and Terry Lowe live on CR137 north of 250(Lake Jeffrey) and have frontage on both paved roads. The 250 side of their double property is being transformed into a mini park, most pleasurably so. Seasonal decorations are centered around the front yard gazebo covered over with morning glory vines that almost hide the big blue butterfly. A white bicycle festooned with a patriotic bunting just rode in and is parked behind the three lawn chairs, one red, one white and one blue.
Pamela Pettyjohn has been acting postmaster here for a month now. She likes us, is happy to be here. She describes our post office as a comfortably busy place except on the first day of business after the fourth of July holiday weekend. Stamp sales hit a record high that day and that was combined with an overload of packages to be processed.
We agreed that it would be almost impossible for Pam to surpass the efficiency and Post Office ambiance we enjoyed during Iva Carlton time with us, but Pam aims to keep it rolling merrily along in Wellborn in the manner to which we have become accustomed. Alternate titles for Post Master are OIC (Officer In Charge) and/or SSDA (Sales and Service Distribution Associate) in the United States Postal System !
Pam lives in Lake City and struggles with her postal address being in White Springs. She started with the postal system in 2004 as a temporary substitute carrier. She studied and passed the exam to qualify for clerk and worked in the White Springs Post Office. Wellborn is her first experience of acting OIC.
She supervises and is responsible for the work of Cindy Stansel, Dorothy Long, Florence Langley, Michelle Brannon, Sandra Young and Patrica Perry.

Jane and Bruce Campbell have decided to move to Sebastian, This will be a huge loss for our hometown and all I can say is lucky Sebastian folks.
Perhaps spreading the details of the home they are selling is where the WellbornWhisper Blog fits in this picture
53906 150th Place, Wellborn, Fl 32094
Home phone 386-963-3196
There are 13.2 acres with an open barn and a pond.
The well is a irrigation well that we had downsized. We have the house, barn, and faucets all around the yard. We had my parents mobile home hook-up but when we put the well house up Bruce unhooked it since the house was moved. There is still a septic tank and power pole there.
Our house is 1760 sq. feet. It has 3 large bedrooms, Master bath has "garden tub" and large shower. Second bath has over sized shower no tub. There is a nice size dining room and kitchen and wide open living room and great room. There is a deck front and back.
There are some shrubs, apple trees, pear trees, pines and some live oaks, mostly pasture. It is partly fenced with "barbless" wire and one strand of electric.
The barn is open. It has four stalls separated, plus, one wash and grooming area , one used for bedding and one closed for feed room. Could be made into 10 stalls.
The rest we use for storage of golf cart, and lawn mower. Also, Bruce has a small area for tools and work area.
I can't think what else might be of interest
Price: waiting for an estimate, but would consider reasonable offers..
