Pamela Pettyjohn has been acting postmaster here for a month now. She likes us, is happy to be here. She describes our post office as a comfortably busy place except on the first day of business after the fourth of July holiday weekend. Stamp sales hit a record high that day and that was combined with an overload of packages to be processed.
We agreed that it would be almost impossible for Pam to surpass the efficiency and Post Office ambiance we enjoyed during Iva Carlton time with us, but Pam aims to keep it rolling merrily along in Wellborn in the manner to which we have become accustomed. Alternate titles for Post Master are OIC (Officer In Charge) and/or SSDA (Sales and Service Distribution Associate) in the United States Postal System !
Pam lives in Lake City and struggles with her postal address being in White Springs. She started with the postal system in 2004 as a temporary substitute carrier. She studied and passed the exam to qualify for clerk and worked in the White Springs Post Office. Wellborn is her first experience of acting OIC.
She supervises and is responsible for the work of Cindy Stansel, Dorothy Long, Florence Langley, Michelle Brannon, Sandra Young and Patrica Perry.
