Power Country Truck was seen and heard at the Voter Education Meet hosted by WNW and WCA. Crowds came, listened, and stayed for questions and answers. Clerk of the Court Barry Baker gave the invocation followed by the pledge to our country's flag. At the speakers table were M.C. Russell Smith with time keeper Betty Barnes (out of the camera range). Two candidates for the County Judge were (L to R) Gary Brown and Lin Williams, candidates for State Representative for District 11 Elizabeth Porter and representing Debbie Boyd was Chris Lipson, then Mary Maxwell representing Billie Maxwell, current District 4 County Commissioner, and Phil Oxendine who also wants District 4 seat on the County Commission. Each candidate (or representative) presented themselves and their agendas. In addition Jerry Taylor of the Suwannee County School Board explained the two amendments connected with school finances and class size difficulty with current legislation. There were also explanations and a fine printout with websites recommended for further study on the amendments. We voters are indebted to the two civic organizations in our hometown for a VERY SUCCESSFUL HELPFUL EDUCATIONAL MEETING last night.

Hi Jinny,
I'm sorry, I thought I mailed you the date for the Candidates night when I found my mistake. It is Tuesday the 19th of October at the WCA building, but we will still have our regular WNW meeting on Oct. 28th at 7 at the Blake Lowe Building
Thanks ahead of time if you can fix this on your blog.

The Wellborn Neighborhood Watch will again sponsor a “Candidates Night”.
This time the meeting will be at the Wellborn Community Association Building starting exactly at 6 P.M. (Blogger assumes it is on October's final Thursday evening, WNW regular night.)
Please come early and get a seat.
Some of the candidates have later commitments so we must start on time. Although I sent out letters, emails and made calls to all running on our ballot we will have the following candidates.
State Rep.
Debbie Boyd and Elizabeth Porter
County Judge
Gary E. Brown and William F. (lin) Williams
County Commissioners
Billy C. Maxwell and Philip D. Oxendine
ALSO:
There are 5 constitutional amendments on the ballot that will be explained by guest speaker Adam Prins with qualifications as follows:
As a member of the Live Oak City Council, I recently attended the Florida League of Cities Annual Conference. At that conference, I spent several hours learning about the proposed amendment changes to our Florida Constitution. I have spent several more hours since that training studying the proposed changes. I also met with a councilman from Saint Petersburg Beach, Florida, who is living firsthand what proposed Amendment 4 would likely do to the entire State. They have spent over $750,000 just in legal fees this year because of "Hometown Democracy." This information, coupled with my desire for civic education, encouraged me to share this information I have gained with others. I am delighted to help in any way possible. Written by Adam Prins.
Along with those amendments is a Suwannee Cty School District Referendum and a Nonbinding Statewide Advisory Referendum.
We hope to educate ourselves and the community by having this meeting with our candidates and speakers who are more knowledgeable with our ballot and what the candidates hope to bring to our community with their election.
The address for Wellborn Community Association is 8th Ave. in Wellborn. Turn west at the Kornucopia.
There will be refreshments served.
If you have question about this meeting please call

Here is a glimpse of #1 lesson ( a freebee, soon to be $4) for Round Dancing. This is the newest thing to do in my hometown. In this picture ten couples formed a circle around caller Ralph Beekman who borrows a lady here to demonstrate a step.
Seen at the WCA Community Building this first Monday night class (6:30 to 9) were Bonnie and George Scott, Bobbi Fenderson and blogger Jinny, who had such a good time enjoying the rhythm and learning the choreography to the tune that the good intention of taking lots of pictures was lost in the fun of dancing.
Mild exercise to music, friendly folk to enjoy it with in a pleasant place in Wellborn...it adds up to a choice of entertainment much better than couch potatoe-ing in front of the TV

Kitchen Crew in this picture are Pat Bezaire, Beanie Brooks, and Barbara with off this scene, George Scot flipped pancakes . It was an overflow (almost) crowd. Tables like this were set up neath the trees all around Andrews Square.
Bobbi Fenderson, Ms Personality, had us all smiling as she exchanged money for a ticket to breakfast
Ron Chappel 's Artistry at the keyboard gives nice ambiance to Breakfast in October.
Chef extraordinaire this month was George Scott
George Burnham wants voters to know who Phil Oxendine is and that he is running for County Commissioner. Gary Brown, candidate for Judge, was also seen at WCA Breakfast. His supporters were easy to spot with their bright blue tees. Francheska Barrett, Pasco Jarvis and Dale Barrett smile for the camera. Mom Tammy Barrett was out amongst the many happy vendors at the WCA Fall Yard Sale. My neighbor Michelle Huntsman is glad that Barretts are all using laptops because Michelle got a very good.
buy on a computer. Satisfied buyers and sellers were plentiful.
