Sally McNally Knight lived June 11, 1938 to January 29 2013 Wellborn Baptist three large parking lots were full on Saturday February 9, 2013. Inside the large sanctuary it took five rows to seat the large family with friends filling up many more pews. Sally had grown up as one of eleven children. Brad and Sally had four daughters. Many family folk came from Lebanon Ohio, her old original hometown. She chose Wellborn as"My Hometown", for their happily ever after retirement years and the 25 years they lived here were interrupted only by a brief stay at The Villages where they moved so that Brad would find it easier to let go of responsibilities with Wellborn Water Works. Brad at age fifteen had heard a doctor tell him that he, with one lung and some missing ribs, that his days to live were numbered. Brad and Sally lived here happily for 25 years of borrowed time Until virulent aggressive cancer struck with a vengence so that her pastor said "it was all so very quick". God granted Brad and Sally almost 60 years together. Pictures of their four girl babies were shown on the screen and happy grandmother fotos with the 8 grandchildren and then the fifteen great grandchildren too. Jean Pressler and her husband Chuck came to Wellborn because of the friendship their husbands enjoyed as youngsters. Mae and Harrison McNally also were Wellbornites because of Sally and Brad. Music was one of Sally's favorite things so the Wellborn Baptist Choir sang "A Sinner Saved By Grace", Gerald White soloed with the "Long Black Train" and Debra Moore witnessed to a deep friendship with Sally and sang "Serenaded by Angels" which was followed by a duet with Tim Scott "Amazing Grace". Wellborn Pastor Rev Dr Don Minshew spoke the words of comfort sighting Hebrews 12 and Hebrews 10:23. The "takeaway" for me was "walk through the pain you are feeling to get to the joy. There will be hard spots in your grieving but eventually they will be swallowed up by the good. Amen

It was a beautiful Saturday for Spring spruce up time at Wellborn United Methodist Church. Twenty seven volunteers worked outside the fellowship hall (see foto of our new friends, Boyscout troop 408, restoring to newness the front yard posts put there to keep our children safe). Others worked inside the sanctuary, and still others worked across the street in the Thrift Shop back yard where Fire Chief Tom kept us safely w burning the huge pile of windfall wood

An e-mail to share

Hows this for a heart warmer ? 2/2/13 11:05 PM, Bruce Campbell wrote: Just visited your Blog again [ My Hometown ], and am so pleased to see all the improvements "downtown " , what with the Whistle Stop re-opened under new management and the wonderful pictures of the bargaining of the new firehouse/emergency station . And , we are most please that the Blueberry Pancake breakfasts are still being served and still getting great turnouts. Jane and I can always be proud that it's one of the things we started that is still going strong in our sorely missed community of Wellborn. We are both doing well and I am still chasing the fish around in my little Bassboat, while Jane is taking good care of my and the dogs. We love this community but do miss all the good folks from the Suwannee County area. Keep posting those great pictures and writing those stories of Wellborn and the people the reside within . NEW HOME FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES

These pictures were taken on Sunday and that is why there are no workmen on the roof or anywhere there. The advertising signs let us know whom to thank for a job progressing well.

George Scott is just back from the Westwood Baptist group trip to Israel. Here he is out to breakfast (WCA Blueberry Pancakes) with daughter Laura who came from Pennsylvania to run the farm while her parents were walking where Jesus walked. Bonnie opted for one more day of R&R. George tells that this second trip to Israel for the Scotts was even better than the first one and he almost promised that Bonnie would do a travelogue at Wellborn Methodist soon.

Pearl Turner. (left side) her sister, Myrtle Principato,(right side), Maso, and Sharon Geyer were the crew making the February Wellborn Community Association Blueberry Pancakes for all us customers. Bobbi Fenderson welcomed and dispatched the tickets.
