This elephant is named "Ellie". She is not quite life size but she stands taller than your blogger.
She is a whimsical addition to center city Wellborn. Bonnie Scott (Scotts Country Depot on Northwest corner at blinker light)says "I love Ellie elephant."
Ellie balances a sign with her raised trunk. It proclaims the WhistleStop specialty of the day. On Ellie's broad sides she has allowed artist Cathy Willson to paint an American Flag with large letters "VOTE" added.
George Ash explains he does walls and elephants only. He chose the color elephant gray, not red or blue, or even pink because she is a Patriotic Elephant, non partisan. Ellie invites us to inform ourselves and then VOTE. No stay at home citizens this time around.
Ellie was discovered and purchased from an antique dealer fifteen years ago to be part of Jungle decor at a restaurant in Frederick Maryland. Relocating Ellie has been easier than your blogger imagined because she is made of fiberglass, not concrete!
