Sunday morning November 16 CHRISTMAS CHILD SHOEBOXES were stacked around the altar at Wellborn United Methodist Church and similarly in other churches I am sure. WUMC Pastor Jim Messer prayed over 43 of them that day which became 53 by the time they were delivered to the collection spot at Spirit of the Suwannee Music Park. From there they join others in Atlanta, Ga.
This ministry is BIG and it is great fun from beginning to end. Boxes are supplied (or a substitute box of your own choice can be used) The dollar store is one of the places volunteer box filling persons smile at each other and say "Let the Christmas Spirit begin". Many many people in hometowns like ours all over this country participate so that truckloads of box gifts go thru bigger collection sites to all kinds of modes of transportation and eventually, in a one for one way, boxes are distributed to children all over the world. $7 per box goes towatd getting them from giver to a child receiver. The message is "Beloved, Let us love one another" and "Let the children come unto me".
