George Scott (right) on a weekend with the re-enactment team. After each event George e-mails a report and our blog is one of 30 recipients.:
"Olustee expo is now behind us and for the attendees it served its pupose. It did work out some bugs. Craig C and Bud T were representing Second Florida and Jim B joined us. We four went Union with about 8 from Larry R's company opposing us as Confederates. We set up a saddle camp on one end of the demonstration field and went generally first person. About 2 PM Larry attacked mounted. We defended with carbines and when they retired, we mounted and skirmished with pistol and then with sabres. That passed for the cavalry demo. We then addressed a surpizingly good number for the expo. The gate was 400+. Drill was exceedingly sloppy with Bud's new horse just learning. I broke the sabre strap on my saddle, losing my blade for the first time in years, and my ten year old feed bag tore in half. GREAT shake down. Big John is planning a get to gether at his place the normal weekend of Horse Landing, and the Hogtown event near Gainesville is Dec 5,6&7. Bob's list of events is posted at http://floridareenactorsonline.com/EventRoster.htm
Bob does a splendid job of tracking and writing Florida events. There are October and November events worth note, and if tyou plan to attend , pls notify and do an after action report.
Respects, George "
