I hated to miss the August Blueberry Pancakes and it is true that the reason is Mr. Blogger's unwellness. Half the fun of the monthly pancakes is the news around town so I'm glad to pass along the news anyway thanks to a Snowden bit of thoughtfulness.
An e-mail from Kathie reads
"Missed you today. Wendell and I didnt work the breakfast but went over about 8:30. Low turnout, but guess it is summertime.
Wanted to tell you that Ron Chappell brought his keyboard and played for breakfast attendees. Very Very nice. Wish I'd had my cameral but I did not. Ron said Jack was not well yesterday so I guess thats why we didn't see you. Our best wishes to him and hope he feels better now.
Workers @ breakfast were George and Bonnie Scott, Sandy Wilson, Cheryl Osgood and Kelcy McBreqrity. Although turnout was low we did sign up new members to WCA; John & Lora Smith who have lived here their whole lives but never attended a breakfast. We were flattered to have them and look forward to seeing more of them in the future.
Glad I read your blog & saw that the block party for the WNW is August 16. We had thought it was in September. We also had candidates at breakfast; the 3 for State Attorney and Thomas Stone also.
The WCA has packed 40 backpacks with school supplies, some for elementary and some for middle school students. We will distribute them to some Wellborn kids and the rest will go to the Suwannee Elementaries and Middle School. When teachers identify who has insufficient supplies they will contact guidance and the backpacks and supplies will go to these. Those on that committee were Jackie Slaughter, Chris Williams, Beanie Brooks, Lois Wilder and me, Sandy Wilson, Cheryl Osgood, Penny Present and Linda Dye also helped.
WCA website is www.wellborncommunityassociation.com. There was some confusion as to where on the web we were.
Again, missed you and hope all is OK
Kathie (&Wendell)"
