Two good folks leave My Hometown with shoes that are hard to fill.

JANE AND BRUCE CAMPBELL SAW A NEED AND SET ABOUT TO FILL IT.
THANK YOU FOR A JOB WELL DOME !
YOUR NEIGHBORS AND FRIENDS APPRECIATE YOU VERY MUCH.

Jane writes:

Hi everyone,

This will be my last note and reminder to all of you.

Bruce and I will be moving by the end of April and although we are extremely happy with the place we found it will be very hard to leave all of you.

I am the person who finds the guest speakers, puts out the signs, puts the information on the radios and newspapers and sends out these emails hoping to interest you in coming to our meetings. Those jobs will now be open .
Bruce is Co-coordinator and his job will need to be filled. I hope some new people will step up and volunteer their services for the group.
We hope to see you all at this months meeting.
Our guest speaker will be Phil Oxendine, our county Commissioner.
See ya.
Jane

TODAY'S ENTRY IS SOMETHING TO PONDER.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011

THIS COULD SAVE US!!!!!!!!!
I have totally cleaned this e-mail from all other names, sending it to you in hopes you will keep it going and keep it clean. This is something I will fight for and I hope you all read it all the way through. You will be glad you did.
The 26th amendment (granting the right to vote for 18 year-olds) took only 3 months & 8 days to be ratified! Why? Simple! The people demanded it. That was in 1971 ... before computers, before e-mail, before cell phones, etc.
Of the 27 amendments to the Constitution, seven (7) took 1 year or less to become the law of the land...all because of public pressure.
I'm asking each addressee to forward this email to a minimum of twenty people on their address list; in turn ask each of those to do likewise.
In three days, most people in The United States of America will have the message. This is one idea that really should be passed around.

Congressional Reform Act of 2011
1. Term Limits. 12 years only, one of the possible options below..
A. Two Six-year Senate terms
B. Six Two-year House terms
C. One Six-year Senate term and three Two-Year House terms

2. No Tenure / No Pension.
A Congressman collects a salary while in office and receives no pay when they are out of office.

3. Congress (past, present & future) participates in Social Security.
All funds in the Congressional retirement fund move to the Social Security system immediately. All future funds flow into the Social Security system, and Congress participates with the American people.

4. Congressional members can purchase their own retirement plan, just as all Americans do.

5. Congress will no longer vote themselves a pay raise. Congressional pay will rise by the lower of CPI or 3%.

6. Congress loses their current health care system and participates in the same health care system as the American people.

7. Congress must equally abide by all laws they impose on the American people.

8. All contracts with past and present Congressmen are void effective 1/1/11. The American people did not make this contract with Congressmen. Congressmen made all these contracts for themselves. Serving in Congress is an honor, not a career. The Founding Fathers envisioned citizen legislators, so ours should serve their term(s), then go home and back to work.

If each person contacts a minimum of twenty people then it will only take three days for most people (in the U.S.) to receive the message. Maybe it is time.

THIS IS HOW YOU FIX CONGRESS!!!!! If you agree with the above, pass it on. If not, just delete

You are one of my 20+. Please keep it going.

Hometown Blogger anticipates the fun of playing the Grand Marshall role for the Blueberry Festival Parade the first Saturday in June.
When I shared this scoop with Wellborn Methodists last evening, they applauded. Then the first request I heard was from Paula Arnold "Can you lead the parade up CR137 to Hogan Road for Bob to see ?"

Today this Email came from Wendell and Kathie
"Maybe you are too humble to put this on your blog, but I know you'll post our e-mail!
Congratulations on being chosen as the Grand Marshall for the 18th Annual Wellborn Blueberry Festival Parade (June 4, 2011). We thank you for agreeing to serve. You are so deserving of this "honor" and it is a small token of what you do for Wellborn."
We love you! -- Wendell & Kathie

These people left homes in many states, in order to enjoy our hometown in all its spring time glory. They are on a Road Scholar (formerly Elderhostel) bicycling adventure. They lodged at the Cerveney Conference Center (Camp Weed). Your blogger found the happy group at Wellborn Whistle Stop and took pictures. After confirming directions to Geiger Orchids their next stop, the plan was a picnic at Wellborn Community Park. St Lukes Episcopal church van was a sag wagon for the event.

Kathy McAllister arrived at the Blueberry Pancake Breakfast with spring in her heart and in her step. Wendell Snowden took the opportunity to dance a few steps for the joy of it.
Life is good in my hometown

Ron Torres met the breakfast crowd with his usual smile. Here he teaches a grandson about breakfast tickets and money handling.
Across from them people smiled at pretty Nicole with her display of Girl Scout Cookies.
Behind Nicole notice Ron Chappel at the keyboard producing springtime music Kathy and Wendell could not resist dancing to.

Ann Dawson, Maso Martin, Arlene Cheetham and Melinda Hardy were the kitchen volunteers on the first Saturday in March Blueberry Pancake Breakfast

From Kathie Snowden of the Wellborn Community Association:

My question was "How do I make a "link"?"
I am still figuring it out :-)

I notice on your blog -- on the left below where you say "who you are" there is a section which says "Links". This (I guess) would be where you would put links to other websites. I don't have any idea how you do that, but I've never had a blog. On the WCA website I have a "Contact Us/Links" page and put a bunch of links on the bottom to various local "stuff." When I edit the web page I have a button on the top which says "hyperlinks." When I click that button, I type or copy in the page URL I want to link, and then there is a place where I can put whatever text I want for people to click on. Yours may be the same????? So you could put the link below in and then as the text, you could put WCA Facebook or ????

The link to the facebook page is:

http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/pages/Wellborn-Community-Association/140265599370021

When you are logged on to Facebook - it's probably much easier to just do a search for the Wellborn Community Association and it will come right up.
Link to WCA website is: www.wellborncommunityassociation.com

Anyway -- thanks for all you do. Was great to see you today. ---------------- Kathie

Wellborn community sorrows together over the death of Dean Law. The celebration of his life was Saturday March 5 at Mt Olive Baptist Church.

from Jane Campbell re Wellborn Neighborhood Watch

I have met several Wellborn Neighborhood Watch members at the flea market and they wanted to know who our guest speaker for this month will be. The meeting is always the last Thursday of the month,( March 31) at the Blake Lowe building by the Wellborn Community Park and includes supper.

We will be having our County Commissioner Phil Oxendine as our speaker.

He will let us know what is happening during the meeting and what is happening in our district.

Come with questions.
I will send out a notice when we get closer to the meeting.

I just wanted to send this on in hopes that some of you might be able to take the time to make the meeting. It is always in the middle of the work day that they have these meetings.
I hope to see you there and maybe you can pass this information on to those who like us, are still waiting.
