Charles William Osgood

Charles William Osgood, 69, passed away July 26, 2010. He was born in Natick, Massachusetts, on September 11, 1940, and raised by his loving grandparents in Wellesley, Massachusetts. He served in the Army Special Forces where he was honorably discharged as a First Sergeant on September 25, 1958. Charles received a Certificate of Appreciation from Chief of Staff General W.C. Westmoreland in October 1958.
Charles was a dedicated Boy Scout Leader and a member of the Order of the Arrow. He was also a Camp Ranger at the Spartanburg Boy Scout Camp in Saluda, NC. He worked at Causeway Lumber Company in Ft. Lauderdale for over ten years.
Charles was an associate member of the Sergeant Major Thomas H. Griggs, Jr., Detachment #1086 Marine Corps League, and a member of the Wellborn Volunteer Fire Department. He was Vice President of the Wellborn Community Association and one of the most conscientious, hard workers that the WCA will ever see. As a WCA member, Charles cannot be replaced. He was quite a man that everyone knew, loved and respected. Charles enjoyed war history, old cars, tractors, animals and just being a practical joker. His faithful dog, Merlin, was with him to the end.
Services will be held on Friday, August 13, at 2:00 pm, at Daniels Funeral Home & Crematory, Inc. of Live Oak.
