Wellborn Volunteer Fire Department guys and gals were rousted out of their beds at 4:30 AM responding to a call in Falmouth..
One of the WVFD families , Emily and Slade Maynard, their children, with grandma Becky in the background, didnt let the short sleep keep them from Blueberry Festival action. Its tradition. This years parade was the official debut for a huge tanker addition to the WVFD vehicles.
Ray Rodehaver and his wife Kate paraded in a green '78 Chevrolet in the antique cars section. It was tenderly brought to this day of grandeur after being adopted from Dolly Perkins yard. It belonged to Claude Perkins daddy and came to Wellborn from West Virginia.
Patty Roach is the center of her children and grandchildren. This photo is a special heart warmer to your blogger. I shared the Big News in Wellborn when Patty and Gerry's children were born. Now I identify with Patty's daddy Robert Taylor for the wonder of seeing our children's children's children.
Grand Marshall Tommy Andrews waves and enjoys a Ride To Remember
All Springs Veterinary Hospital presented a winning float with dogs of all sizes , some with sun glasses befitting the parade theme of My Florida.
Some say THE BEST PART of the Blueberry Festival was Joy Gieger's opening song. Everyone within hearing stopped what they were doing to listen to her trained soprano voice singing her heart out in gratitude for our country.
Later Joy was seen with her family getting ready to enjoy the parade that went all around Andrews Square. Find her two sisters, Alice and Marcia, and Marcia's two children Carmen and Caitlyn. Joy stands between her parents Maurice and Ann Geiger. The wonder of finiding Maurices orchid greenhouse here is rivaled now by finding a voice like Joy Geiger's in Wellborn. My Hometwon.
