THE WHISTLESTOP coffee&deli
@ the four way stop(CR137 & C-10A) in downtown WELLBORN celebrates one week OPEN FOR BUSINESS on Thursday !
Jack and I had lunch there today, Tuesday. Reuben sandwich for Jack and the Valhalla sandwich (fresh veggie assortment) for me, both on lovely thick whole grain rye/pumpernickel home baked style bread. Together with drinks we lunched deliciously for under $15. The ambiance was the serendipity!
Ashley Goolsby-Zak stopped by to pickup a carryout lunch. George Ash and Cathy Willson are background people in this photo.
George and Cathy are the brains and a lot of the brawn behind this new life chapter granted to the old original Blake Lowe store of the 1930's. George smiles for the camera in photo #2.
Local business man and cabinet maker Dave Thompson enjoys lunch. Jack Wilson in the background. Note the floor in this photo. It was designed and painted there by Cathy. The Baker figurine in front is already a WHISTLE STOP trademark.
He was found and refurbished by Cathy. The firefighter figurine in front of the Wellborn Volunteer Fire Department station is also a Cathy find, fixed up, and presented to the WVFD. AND in the garden seating area you should look for a whimsical almost lifesize giraffe !
Cindy Keen smiled for our camera. She is a transplant from Michigan and lives on CR137 south of 252. Her expertise is stained glass work. My eavesdropping makes me think Wellborn will have opportunity to see some of her creativity.
We hung our mini poster about a Children's Veggie Tales Day on Saturday at Wellborn Methodist Fellowship Hall. On that same bulletin board we noted information about organic foods available at Magnolia Farms and some interesting information on several happenings in the local art world.
Wonderful things are part of the changes coming to Wellborn, My Hometown.
